Where I Work

Just in case some of you are lounging in tropical climes and were missing the experience of a South Dakota winter, this may help. This is one of the west doors at Watertown High School a month ago on a day that wasn’t exactly a “Chamber of Commerce” day.

The good news is that most of that snow is gone now, though we did experience a mini-blizzard earlier this week. Years ago our state tourism department used “Be glad you live in South Dakota” as their slogan. But they dropped it for some reason.

But, still, I do like South Dakota. I just don’t like winter. Anywhere.

  1. Not to nit-pick, but other photos have given me the impression that you do like winter–in Mexico. And perhaps, the extremus suffering that you suffer through in this Watertown winter is partially offset by the time you spend in California, Portugal, Spain, England, France, Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Croatia, Italy, Greece, Turkey, Japan, etc. etc. Personally, my least favorite season is summer. That’s when I dream of being in–South Dakota. Nothing like a hard winter to raise one’s appreciation of spring and summer in “The Land of Infinite Variety”. That was the state slogan when I was growing up in good ol’ SD.
