2013 01-01 Waiting for the Sun

Those of my generation know that the title for this post is also the title for the title track of the Doors third album “Waiting for the Sun.” They sing

At first flash of Eden, we race down to the sea.
Standing there on Freedom’s Shore.
Waiting for the Sun, etc. etc. etc.

And, this photo does little to reflect those lyrics. But I did take this photo early in the morning one day, well before the crowds arrived on the beach and a little before the sun came out from behind the bank of clouds that typically hovers over the eastern horizon off the shores of the Yucatan Peninsula.

    • Thank you, Jolene. I’ve been doing this blog for close to 4 years (1271 posts) and every time I think of retiring it, someone like you says something that keeps me going. Thanks!

    • Chris, he was waiting behind the camera. One of my favorite shots was while I was waiting for the sun to come up in the fog. As I waited, I turned behind me and saw a tree snag shrouded in fog with a barbed wire fence runnig beyond. I got a pretty good shot of the sun in a few minutes, but the tree snag was definately the better shot.
